Top awards for South Western Zebra Finch Club Members.

3 members of the west country based South Western Zebra Finch Club (SWZFC)took the top awards for Zebra Finches and also the colour awards for the birds they won with at the cage birds event at Camborne Agricultural Show in July. Other members also won colour awards which are also presented as part of the Zebra Finch Society’s Gold Patronage. And judged by Paul Paintain who is also the Treasurer of the ZFS and Chairman of the SWZFC.

Last years show was on a scorching hot day and this year’s was on a cool and windy one with some rain. The days could not have been any different. But did not dampen the spirits of Exhibitors, Organisers and the Public

There were 34 entries with a total of 30 benched by 3 Champion Exhibitors and 4 Novice.

The top award for ‘Best Zebra Finches’ went to Gareth Hollings’ Breeder Chestnut Flanked White (CFW) pair which also took Best Novice Breeder and the colour award for CFW. His Adult CFW pair also took the award for Best Novice Adult. He was awarded the Best of Colour award for the Any Other Standard Variety with his Normal Charcoals

Following closely behind him, fellow SWZFC member Mason Rigdon took the ‘Best Champion’ and ‘Best Champion Adult’ with his Penguin pair which also were awarded the ‘Best of Colour’.

Champion Breeder award went to Adrian Wills for his pair of Dilutes (Cream) which were also awarded the ‘Best of Colour’. And the Best of Colour for his Normal entry too.

Champion exhibitor, Peter Cannan took home the colour awards for Pieds and Whites.

We, as exhibitors and SWZFC members, would like to thank Derrick Bates and his team for organising and administering this show which included many more sections of the fancy.
