South Western Zebra Finch Club

South Western Zebra, Bengalese & Foreign Bird Society’s Area Open Show report.

This show was the first major event since the merger of South Western Zebra Finch Club and the South Western Bengalese Finch Society and held in The Kenn Centre, Kennford on 13^th September

For the second year running the Zebra Finch Society’s Chairman Nigel Smith took the Best Foreign Bird in Show Award and accompanied this with Best Novice Bengalese Breeder whilst at the same time Judging the Zebra Finch section along with Zebra Finch Judge Bob Mouland who between them judged 73 Champion Zebras from 10 Champions and 45 Novice birds from 6 Novice exhibitors. Sadly, there were no Juniors exhibiting in this section.

The Bengalese Section was judged by Mike Baldwin who also took a Foreign Bird award with his Best Seedeater in Show whilst judging 38 Champion from 3 Exhibitors, 9 Novice from 4 Exhibitors and 5 from 1 Junior.

In the Foreign section 35 from 6 Exhibitors were ably Judged by Alex Norris an experienced foreign exhibitor since boyhood.

Best Champion Breeder: Paul Edmondson (Fawn)

Best Champion Single Bird: Adrian Wills.

Sadly, no Parrotlike or Softbills entered or Junior Foreign.
